The Ottawa group was started in 2002 with a small gathering at the old Double Deckers pub. We held our first Regional Burn, Mapleman, later that year on the July 1st weekend. The group has continued to enjoy steady growth since that time and has developed a strong bond with the burner community in Toronto, and more recently with the emerging community in Montreal.
There is just under a month to go until Naturopolis on Victoria Day weekend and things are starting to come into focus. Many took advantage of the early bird opportunity and the wiki is beginning to fill up with beautiful artistic ideas for the days ahead. Saturday June 13th, 2009 will long be remembered as the date of one of the most memorable Burner weddings. The Ottawa regional rep (Glenn) married his sweetheart Pam in an evening ceremony filled with drummers, fire spinners, family and friends. One might wonder why Pam would want to marry him after he left her at the side of the road on the way to her first Burn…But if you have spent any time with them since then, it’s obvious they crazy happy together!
