* Saturday, June 7
* 3:00pm
* Starting location to be announced
– RSVP to the facebook page for updates:

https://www.facebook.com/events/237562223099116/

Save the date!! Urban Golf is having a hot summer session! Bling yourself and your club as we play down Yonge street towards Bloor. (Starting location will be announced closer to the date)

This is a *costumed* event, a “real” game of golf in an urban setting, and a bar jaunt par excellence! It is a 19+ event, as we will be frequenting bars as part of each round.

Prizes will be given, incl. for best costume, so start hitting up those thrift stores now for some silly, golf-y goodness! A small greens fee will apply (a paltry $5) so plan to bring cash for greens fee and drinks — and ID, just to be on the safe side.

Now, start planning your outfits, spruce up those clubs, and get ready for a raucous jaunt. Game on!

What is this “Urban Golf”, you ask?

Well, my little chickadee, read this FAQ, and all shall be revealed:

On Saturday, November 23, 2013 the Toronto Burning Man community invites you to experience a 12-hour foray into burner art and culture. Since 2002, our community has been fostering participatory events open to all. This year we team up with our friends at Centre of Gravity West and take you on a journey to the playa with interactive art, music, performance and spectacular oddities.

“Aurora Borealis occurs when highly charged electrons from the solar wind interact with elements in the earth’s atmosphere. Solarwinds stream away from the sun at speeds of about one million miles per hour. When they reach the earth, some 40 hours after leaving the sun, they follow the lines of magnetic force generated by the earth’s core and flow through the magnetosphere, a teardrop-shaped area of highly charged electrical and magnetic fields.”

Like those highly charged electrical and magnetic fields, our community of builders, imagineers, inventors, composers and participants work together to create a truly unforgettable night of entertainment, inclusion and play in our city. As time passes the idea of play can change and we often think it’s not important, that it’s for kids or we don’t have time for it, but play is crucial to mental creativity, health and happiness – some argue it is the highest expression of our humanity, both imitating and advancing the evolutionary process.

We invite you to take this opportunity to play and dance like the solarwinds of Aurora Borealis, to follow an uncharted path, where you may stumble upon something you have been missing for a long time.

Be a participant, bring your costumes, cups, art, music, and sense of adventure and help us create our best Decompression yet, because this party is YOU.

Did you know that Decompression is a fully-volunteer organized and run event? And that everyone buys a ticket (organizers, DJ’s, greeters, artists, performers) and also contributes in some other way? The money raised goes to funding art and holding community events that welcome everybody, cuz we’re radically inclusive like that. How will you contribute??!! ;-)

Do’s and Don’ts!

1. DO think about how you can contribute – an act, a gift, set up, clean up, become an incredible roving installation, participate in an art project, host a workshop?? All of the above??!!!

2. DO remember to bring…
Your TICKET, photo ID, cash for the bar, and YOUR REFILLABLE CUP!!!, your friendly and mischievous badassitude! (a good attitude)

This year, we strongly encourage you to Bring Your Own reusable Cup. For those who don’t get the memo, cups are $1 on site. $5 FOR ALL beer and mixed drinks; water, soda, juice, etc. will be $1. There is no ATM on site so if you plan on buying drink tickets, you’ll need to have brought mula in your wallet.

2. DO find a safe, sober ride to and from the event.
Getting to and from — Parking
[find out parking info for Zero Gravity West]
Public transit is a good option if you can’t find a carpool.
Smack dab between Dundas West and Bloor, you can either streetcar or subway it.

4. DO respect the space.
It’s really hard to find a venue with so much space. Please help us maintain a good relationship with ZGW and its neighbors by respecting both the neighborhood and the venue space itself. Please, Leave No Trace.

5. DO AskFirst!
Can I take a picture of you? Can I hug you? Can I have some of your beer? Can I touch you?
Always remember to get CONSENT before video-ing, photographing, touching, or otherwise, interacting physically with another participant’s self or belongings.

6. DON’T expect this event to be awesome without your contribution :) (refer to #1)

Art Grants & Performance
Art Grant & Performance application deadlines have passed with a record number of grant applicants this year! Be on the lookout for some seriously amazing and fun stuff – we are very excited!

Media/Commercial Photography & Video
This is a private event: while personal photography and video are allowed at Decomp, pARTicipants who violate community trust will be evicted. This means always *ask* before taking a shot or footage. By default, just assume that there will be pARTicipants in the background of your shot who do not want their image posted anywhere. If you are Media, assume that you are not welcome to shoot. Feel free to contact the event planning team with any questions:  anucerfen@yahoo.ca

Food Donation
Please contribute to our good food box by bringing a non-perishable food item. All donations will be given to the Daily Bread Food Bank a non-profit, charitable organization fighting to end hunger in our communities.

Canned fish & meat
Cans of soup or hearty stew

VOLUNTEERING – Contact corymacdonald@gmail.com
An event of mOOseman’s magnitude needs many hands and minds to come together to be a success. Given the scale of this year’s event, it is critical that all pARTicipants volunteer to assist in some capacity to make the event a success.

We’re all volunteers so why not join the fun of working to make the event happen?

Interested in volunteering but don’t know where? We are looking for all sorts of volunteers to help us make this the best mOOseman ever and pARTicipation is extra important now with the growth of mOOseman and other regional events due to the Burning Man ticket scarcity problem.

We expect higher demand to attend this year, so community volunteer participation will be very important. When you buy your ticket, we’ll be asking for some info from you on how you think you can help. In June and July we’ll contact you to schedule shifts and put you in touch with the right team leads. If you want to get a head start contact Cory at corymacdonald@gmail.com

    PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

This event adheres to these 10 core principles:
    http://regionals.burningman.com/network_principles.html

    Volunteering
An event of mOOseman’s magnitude needs many hands and minds to come together to be a success. Given the scale of this year’s event, it is critical that all pARTicipants volunteer to assist in some capacity to make the event a success.

We’re all volunteers so why not join the fun of working to make the event happen?

Email mooseman.toronto@gmail.com NOW to get involved and watch for news, updates and call outs from the Team Leads who need YOU! Even a couple of hours of your time before or during the event will make it run that much better. Volunteering is also a great way to meet or get to know our community pARTicipants better.

    Art & Art Grants
BurnT is committed to supporting and funding where possible interactive, collaborative, community art. We welcome all pARTicipants to create art at mOOseman that will enhance our collective experience. This is your chance to satisfy a deep soulful desire to create and share your work with others in a non-judgemental, supportive, an inspiring environment! Be creative, think outside the box and tell us your vision! Together, in all modalities of artistic self-expression, we create the magic that is mOOseman! Please email toburnon.artgrants@gmail.com to request and submit an art grant application.

    YOUR pARTicipation
No advertising, commerce or spectating. Mooseman is about pARTicipating and respecting the 10 principles above. We’re not about promoting commercial or political causes, participating in commerce, or showing up to be entertained. Bring yourself to the event and make mOOSeman 2012 a success by getting involved.

    General Camping Area
The camping is gorgeous with a versatile terrain, which includes a small central crevice that is nestled between two forested hills, circling back to a majestic stone fire pit. In keeping with the natural beauty, minimal camp structure is encouraged in this area. Generators are strongly discouraged. Fires and all sources of open flame may be banned in the general camping area, depending on regional conditions. This is real camping: electricity and potable water will not be available in the area. Foodstuffs and organic refuse should be kept locked away, thereby not encouraging camp invasion by wildlife. There is a public lake with swimming a short (5 km) drive away.

    In & Out Policy
Site in and out access for cars will be restricted during the weekend due to space restrictions. Please email mooseman.toronto@gmail.com if you will require in/out privileges.

    Fire & Fireworks Policy
Fires are entirely dependent on environmental conditions and local burn policy. Fireworks are not permitted at the event. Weapons are not permitted at the event.

    Children
The leadership team is currently working with a parent committee to include children in some capacity at Mooseman. We will announce our policy with regards to this next week – week of July 4th. Please email mooseman.toronto@gmail.com if you have any questions/concerns/points to make about children attending this event.

    Pets
Requests for pet admissions will be considered on a per-case basis to the leadership team. Please email mooseman.toronto@gmail.com with a statement of the pets character as well as a management plan for the pet or if you have any questions/concerns/points to make about pets attending this event.

Note: All admission sales are * FINAL* – Absolutely no admissions will be sold at the event. Your fees must be paid and you must be registered by July 31st. Only registered pARTicipants will be admitted. – Ticket purchasers must be 19+ – All pARTicipants must present valid government issued photo ID with a name that matches their registration name on the Will-Call list prior to entering the event venue. – All pARTicipants must sign a waiver and release prior to entering the event venue. – No commerce – No fireworks – No weapons.

Apologies for the formatting — we just wanted to get this out there with time for review.
